About
Big Dirty Boots is comprised of three talented musicians: Tad Ruszel on mandolin, guitar & vocals, Kaj Falch-Nielsen on acoustic guitar & vocals, and Dave Peters on cello & standup bass. Together, they create emotional vocal harmonies and original songs that blend country, bluegrass, folk and rock.
The band's debut album, Long Way Home (2014), has been featured in indie films and TV shows including Vampire Sorority Babes and Ties that Bind. Big Dirty Boots are fan favorites at West Coast Festivals like Boots n Boats, and Islands Folk Festival in 2026. With the first of two albums out from their recent release Heartbreak and Fairytales, there is plenty of buzz for the upcoming singles arriving throughout this year.

Tad Ruszel
Second-generation musician who has toured and recorded solo for 15 years, including with The Sweet Lowdown and a Folk Music Award-nominated album.
Kaj Falch-Nielsen
Classically trained multi-instrumentalist and founder of Blue Light Studio in Vancouver. Has worked with Dear Rouge, Said the Whale, Anderson .Paak and Boyce Avenue.
Dave Peters
Playing music since grade 4. Classically trained on cello, with a self-taught love of stand-up bass and unconventional genres.
